I have wonderful news about the Pittsburgh Blues Festival! All indicators point to Blues Festival 2008 as the best year ever. On free Friday we raised more than 27,000 pounds of food – a ton and a half more than last year! While final numbers aren’t in yet, preliminary figures show record sponsorship contribution, record ticket sales, and hopefully, a record net total of funds raised. more...

I am excited to share with you some of our latest activities. You are aware of our Campaign to End Hunger – indeed, it has become a kind of guiding beacon that spurs on all of our day-to-day work. In May we are formally launching the Kids Campaign to End Hunger! This complement to our big campaign is about encouraging children (of any age) to step up and join the fight against hunger, in whatever way they can imagine.

The season of Giving Thanks - a time to share our blessings!
The holidays are fast upon us. For the Food Bank, it is the busiest time of the year. We know families are under the added stress of feeding children home from school and the extra expenses of family gatherings. And I don’t need to tell you the coming winter heating bills worry most of us.
