Volunteer

Every time you are tempted to think one person can't make a difference, please know that more than 11,000 individuals, of every age and circumstance, make a huge difference to the Food Bank each year. Without the gift of time and some hands-on help, the Food Bank could not exist.

Volunteers are needed to help with Repack, clerical work, gleaning, special events, food drives, Produce to People, and ways we're sure we haven't even thought of yet. You can choose the activity, the length of time and the location. No matter what your talent, or limitation, we could use your help!

Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Someone will contact you to find just the right activity for you!

Volunteering has also come in the form of activities people have organized themselves to benefit the Food Bank. If you hold a food drive, you are volunteering. If you create your own event (like Blues for Food or Comedy Relief) you are definitely making a huge contribution. Some supporters held a DVD Night, where they rented the space, suggested a donation, and showed old concert films, donating the proceeds. This kind of outside event is usually welcome. If you have an idea, contact the Development Department. We may have some experience we can share, and/or help you promote your event.
